In February and March 2025, The Wheel ran the first pilot for the course “Introduce (the application of) Universal Design Principles” in social economy organization. The course is designed for people working in Social Economy Organisations, especially those who have an interest in or are responsible for addressing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion issues in the workplace.
Structure:
- 14 hours in total
- a mix of self-paced learning through the online MOOC platform
- online group sessions with an expert in universal design
Feedback from participants:
With 22 participants, all from different organizations from different sectors, they had an overall positive feedback, with compliments on the structure, the level and the high quality content of the course. They all had a huge interest in learning more about universal design and agreed to test the course over 3 weeks. Thanks to the live group sessions, they had the opportunity to ask questions and reflect a bit more on universal design principles and how to implement them in the workplace, sharing lived experience with colleagues from other organizations. Participants also provided very useful feedback both on the platform and on the live sessions. Now they all have a certificate and a digital badge upon completing the full course and in recognition of their hard work.
