The Social Enterprise Member Network was created by The Wheel to explore opportunities for collaboration and partnership across social enterprises. The Wheel organises monthly meetings, each with a specific topic. For the June meeting, the theme was upskilling staff in social enterprises, with a presentation of the baSE project, and a particular focus on WP2 and its findings.
Participants received information about:
• baSE’s goal and experience working as part of a large partnership on a European project
• Research findings on the training and skills gaps among community and voluntary organisations, social enterprises and charities in Ireland
• The creation of courses directed at workers in the sector.
Perrine Cesbron, Programmes Officer at The Wheel and project coordinator for baSE presented the project and explain the content and stages for the research that took place in WP2. Mairead O’Connor, Senior Sector Skills Policy Manager at The Wheel, presented the findings of WP2 to attendees, as well as the national synthesis report, and the recommendations at national and EU level. Perrine concluded the session with where the project is currently at, going through the content creation process for WP4 and advertising the WP5 pilots.
