From Code to Competence… Further Training for Digital Tools in Cooperatives

The “From Code to Competence… Further Training for Digital Tools in Cooperatives” workshop, organised by Hildesheim University, was presented in the Conference on Digitization & Cooperatives, (29/11/2024) Berlin, moderated by Prof. Dr. Carola Iller, University of Hildesheim, with inputs from Sjard Hönsch, University of Hildesheim & baSE project, and Marina Braun and Andrea Ruiz, revolusun GmbH.

The workshop on the topic of continuing education and digitalization with up to 30 participants focused on the underlying dilemma that digital change often involves both a technical question and a question of the digital skills of the targeted users. Only if both questions are
addressed at the same time can the digital transformation be implemented efficiently and effectively.

Following a real-time survey, Marina Braun and Andrea Ruiz presented revolusun GmbH and the planned revolusun academy, which would like to take care of further training offers in the field of energy cooperatives, in short inputs. Through workshops and group works, it was possible to drawn the composition of the group and moderate exchanges and discussion among them. Most participants were mainly active in the housing and consulting/association sectors; a third group included IT and agriculture.

Interestingly, the discussion reached some key topic in several groups: resistance to further training. Time constraints, costs, inefficiency due to “useless” knowledge, etc. It is therefore important to make attractive arrangements for learning times (preferably learning time as working time), as well as to clarify the assumption of costs and to specifically demonstrate the benefits of individual continuing education modules, which should be closely oriented towards the individual competence needs of the participants.
